I Love You Because You’re You!

While I was putting my daughter to bed, her bedtime story kind of got me thinking. The book is called I Love You, and it has 5 books in one. It’s actually super cute because they are all centered around “I love you” so I don’t think it could get any cuter. The book was an early Christmas gift from Trinity’s MeMe (God Mom) and a good one if I may add!

Trinity asked me to read it last night, so I read the first story in the book called  I Love You Because You’re You and let me just say it had a message for Trinity and for ya girl! It was pretty much saying no matter how you feel or what you do, I’ll always love you. See I told you it was the cutest! Trini smiled the entire time I read the story. After I was finish, I felt some type of way. I reiterated to her that I love her no matter how she feels and no matter what she does.

Tonight, she asked me to read it again, so I did! She smiled some more and I felt guilty some more! I mean I know my child knows I love her…I mean she got to, right? I started thinking about a conversation my husband and I had about how things get lost in translation. It made me think about how Trini may translate me being hard on her, or me being disappointed with her if she does something she know is wrong. I feel like I’m constantly on her. I mean I love on her too, but could my love be lost in translation with my 3 year old?

If so, this book is the perfect way to paint the picture for my toddler. It started a conversation between us. The book has real life examples of stuff kids do that drives mommas insane, and still reassures the child the love is still there. Trinity said to me, “Mommy, you love me like his mommy love him.” I said, “I sure do! I’m sure I love you even more! Never forget that!” She just smiled and kissed my cheek.

Note to self: don’t forget to be intentional with your love…even with your child!

These are the moments I live for! Shoutout to MeMe for this special book! We can’t get past the first story 🙂

Comment your favorite children books or stories, and we’ll be sure to check them out!

 Goodnight XOXO
